trapped-in-paradiseCourageous and inspiring stories from our Catholic missionaries abound in the history of our faith. The Call Me Catholic Countdown lists Peggy’s top five favorite missionary saints.
Sr. Eileen McNerney from the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange discusses the thrilling account of four of her sisters who were serving as missionaries in the Solomon Islands when WWII broke out. The just released book Trapped in Paradise, edited by Sr. Eileen, documents the sisters’ harrowing journey which culminated in their covert rescue by the US Navy.

  1. Hi Peggy, I listened to your show about the nuns in WWII. I loved your show! There is a movie- Robert Mitchum and Deborah Kerr called Heaven Knows Mr. Allison. It it about a nun left on a Japanese controlled island. Robert Mitchum is a marine who washes ashore on a raft. They hide out in a cave until the US. can rescue them. It was one of my favorite movies when I was a little girl. I wonder if it was inspired by the nuns in Trapped in Paradise? Thanks, Helen…
